July 21 2022 UPDATE:

It had come to our attention that detour signage impacting Iris street had not been removed after July 10th as previously expected.

We’ve been informed a short time ago that the reason for the delay in removal of the signage and reopening has been in part due to a labour disruption and the closure has now been extended to August 7th. Detours will continue to be in effect with pedestrian and cycling mobility in the area maintained along with posted signage.

We had requested for a notice to the Community to be provided and have been able to obtain the digital copy of the notice which is posted below.

Thank you to Kenson Park Community Association and residents for keeping us apprised as the project continues. We truly appreciate your patience while we were attempting to get answers for you and the community regarding this matter.

JUNE 14 2022 UPDATE
:

We had a meeting with Stage 2 staff and their traffic team this afternoon. In brief, additional signage regarding the closure on Iris St. at the Pinecrest Creek Pathway is being considered on arterial streets Woodroffe and Baseline.

We have asked that advance signage be posted/changed before the Woodroffe/Iris intersection from both directions as well as at Baseline/Highgate and Baseline/Cobden. We have also asked that instructional/direct detours out of the community be marked by pylons or other types of indicators be considered.

- The Stage 2 and KEV traffic teams will be conducting site visits in the morning of June 15th (tomorrow), following up on your concerns.

- The PVMS sign on Woodroffe, just after exiting the 417 going southbound, will be changed to say that Iris is closed (only local traffic is permitted)

- The Signals team will have persons monitoring the intersection at Highgate and Baseline to make timing adjustments.

As a gentle reminder to all residents, please report poor driving behaviour to the Ottawa Police at their website

Construction season is messy and we thank you so much for your patience, and your diligence in all safety matters.

Stay Safe!
Rachel

JUNE 17th UPDATE

Please note the following:

  • the majority of the signs were installed onsite this morning and the rest were to be installed by the end of the day today.

Here are the additional measures in place by end of day:

  • Added an extra TC-7 (large road closed sign) at the intersection of Woodroffe and Iris, having one turned to be visible to SB traffic on Woodroffe and the other to NB traffic. This should deter vehicles from turning onto Iris from Woodroffe and therefore reducing traffic turning onto the local streets.
  • PVMS was placed just south of the 417 that was displayed to show Iris is closed ahead and to follow the detour.
  • Local traffic only/no LRT signs were added at Highgate/Baseline & Cobden/Baseline, Adirondack

The area will continue to be monitored throughout the month.
