Update on the progression of our Citywide Street Sweeping Operations in College Ward
May 19 2022
Citywide Street Sweeping Operations began on April 6 and in accordance with our Maintenance Quality Standards, will be coming to an end by the end of this month. With that in mind, teams (City operated or contracted) are continuing to work through neighbourhoods to ensure that this timeline is met.
Though there is still some work to do, the road teams have been able to complete nearly 70% of College Ward’s street sweeping activities. Bells Corners area has some minor touch up sweeping required. There is some residential sweeping required in the Qualicum area. The contractor plans to sweep in the Centrepointe area starting tomorrow.
How can residents help?
While there are no parking restrictions during these street sweeping operations, we ask that if you see teams working in your neighbourhood, to please find a temporary parking alternative. Parked cars prevent a clear passage for our sweepers and in some cases, this means that they will have to return, which could ultimately delay our operations. Ensuring streets are clear from obstructions will help to move these operations along!
Next steps
This week you can expect to see the vehicles continuing to work through College Ward. More specifically, vehicles will be returning to locations where parked cars prevented a proper sweep of the area.
We thank you for your patience as we continue getting ready for summer, and we will update you on upcoming work as operations continue progressing.
