Woodroffe Avenue Watermain and Sewer Replacement
Beginning on the evening of Sunday, June 17, 2012, the City of Ottawa will replace the sanitary sewers and watermain on Woodroffe Avenue between Baseline Road and Highway 417. This work also includes full reconstruction of Iris Street between Woodroffe Avenue and Checkers Road and watermain replacement between Field Street and Whitmore Avenue.
All underground work and base course asphalt paving is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2012. Final asphalt paving will be completed in the Spring of 2013. None of the reconstruction is happening in Bay Ward but it will have an impact on Bay Ward residents since Woodroffe Avenue is an important route to and from our community.
The following traffic modifications are required in order to complete the construction on Woodroffe Avenue:
- Woodroffe Avenue will be open to north bound traffic only. South bound traffic will not be permitted.
- Two (2) lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times in the north bound direction.
- Both Woodroffe Avenue south bound exits from Highway 417 will remain closed for the duration of the construction. Vehicles travelling north on Woodroffe will still have access to Highway 417.
- Cyclists will be permitted to share the sidewalk with pedestrians. Appropriate signage will be in place to direct cyclists and pedestrians.
More information is available on the City of Ottawa’s website.
The City is committed to minimizing any disruption and inconvenience to the public during construction. We again would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation during the construction.
