The Beauty of community
Leslie Park Community Association was one of four projects picked across the City of Ottawa! They received $30,000 towards a walking path renewal project in Leslie Park that revitalized the once underused walking path that winds along a creek to a footbridge which connects the park to Leslie Park Public School. Leslie Park
Community Association Chair, Jane O’Regan, wrote the application and oversaw the entire project. There were a few bumps along the way at which point Jane asked for my help to manoeuvre through some of the city bureaucracy but with tenacity we were able to roll up our sleeves and working with City Staff completed the path in time for the snow to fly. In addition to the pathway work, the project includes murals on the bridge abutments. This spring the Community Association gathered the community together to paint the work by local artist, ----. It turned out great! Big thank you to Merivale Century Paint &Decorating for donating all the paint. Soon a scavenger hunt will be created to encourage community members to explore their neighbourhood and learn more about its hidden jewels.
