Delivering big improvements to Woodroffe Avenue!
The City of Ottawa has identified the need to replace the sanitary sewer and watermain along Woodroffe Avenue, between Baseline Road and Highway 417. Included with this work is the replacement of the sanitary sewer and watermain for Iris Street, between Woodroffe Avenue and Checkers Road. Also a new watermain is to be installed for Iris Street, between Field Street and Whitmore Avenue. This work in being undertaken because the condition of the existing sanitary sewer system, which consists of a bituminous fibre pipe (originally installed in 1957), is in very poor condition, numerous service laterals are leaking and the existing pipe size does not meet current City Guidelines requirements. The section of watermain along Iris Street between Field Street and Whitmore Avenue is required for water system looping purposes and to provide long term proper water flow to the existing area east of Woodroffe Avenue.
Construction began in June 2012. All underground work and base course asphalt paving was completed in November 2012. Final landscaping, maintenance hole adjustments and top lift asphalt paving was completed in the Summer of 2013.
